Rules & Regulations
The rules and guidelines at Mahatma Vidyalaya are framed to ensure a safe, disciplined, and supportive learning environment for all students. We believe that a well-structured system builds character, promotes responsibility, and fosters academic excellence. Parents and students are expected to follow these rules to maintain harmony and order within the school.
Admission Rules
- Admission to all classes is subject to seat availability and school policies.
- Children must meet the age criteria prescribed by the school at the time of admission.
- Birth Certificate is mandatory for Pre-KG, LKG, and UKG admissions.
- Students seeking admission to higher classes must submit a Transfer Certificate (TC) and previous year’s report card.
- All information provided in the admission form must be accurate; any discrepancy may lead to cancellation.
- Admission fees and registration fees are non-refundable.
- The school reserves the right to grant or deny admission based on its evaluation process.
General Rules
- Students must bring their school diary every day. It serves as a communication tool between parents and teachers.
- Pupils must be present in school before the scheduled assembly time.
- Cleanliness and personal hygiene must be maintained at all times.
- Damage to school property—books, furniture, walls, or equipment—is punishable and must be compensated by the student.
- Students should carry only essential items to school; valuable items must not be brought.
- Homework and assignments must be completed regularly.
- Parents are expected to ensure their child’s punctuality and preparedness for school.
- Re-tests or special exams will not be conducted if a student misses examinations without valid reason.
- Students are not allowed to wear gold ornaments or expensive accessories.
Uniform Guidelines
- Students must wear the prescribed school uniform on all working days.
- Uniforms should be neat, clean, well-ironed, and properly fitted.
- Shoes must be polished, and socks must be worn as per school colour code.
- Hair must be neatly groomed:
- Boys: Short, clean haircut
- Girls: Hair must be plaited or tied with appropriate ribbons as instructed
- Nails must be trimmed regularly; nail polish or makeup is not allowed.
- On special occasions or designated days, students must wear the specified attire as instructed by the school.
Attendance Requirements
- Regular attendance is compulsory for all students.
- Students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance for promotion to the next class.
- School begins at 9:10 AM, and students must arrive at least 10 minutes earlier.
- Attendance during assembly is mandatory as it instills discipline and unity.
- Students who are unwell should not be sent to school. A medical note may be required for extended absences.
- Leave requests must be submitted in writing through the school diary.
- Parents are advised not to plan trips during assessments or examinations.
Discipline & Behaviour Rules
Students are expected to behave respectfully towards teachers, staff, and fellow students.
- Good manners, politeness, and courtesy must be practiced at all times.
- Any form of bullying, teasing, or misconduct is strictly forbidden and will result in disciplinary action.
- Class discipline must be maintained; unnecessary talking, shouting, or disruption is not allowed.
- Students must uphold the reputation of the school through behaviour both inside and outside the campus.
- Running, playing, or rough behaviour in corridors is prohibited for safety reasons.
- Mobile phones, gadgets, or electronic devices are not allowed unless permitted for specific activities.
Parent–School Communication
- The school diary is the primary mode of daily communication between teachers and parents.
- Parents should check the diary regularly for homework, notes, and reminders.
- Parent–Teacher Meetings (PTMs) are held once every term. Attendance is strongly encouraged.
- Parents may meet teachers only during designated hours with prior permission.
- For concerns or queries, parents may contact the school office or write a note in the diary.
- Parents are requested not to enter classrooms or disturb teachers during school hours.
Visiting Hours
To ensure smooth operations and minimal disruption to learning, parents must adhere to the following visiting hours:
Principal
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
(Monday to Friday)
Teachers
12:00 PM – 1:00 PM /
4:00 PM – 4:30 PM
(Only with prior permission)
Office Hours
During regular school working hours
